Frequently Asked Questions
1. When does school start?
All important dates can be found on the school calendar, located at the bottom of the homepage. For the most up-to-date information on all school events, visit us on Twitter @OakmontOutdoor or Facebook @oakmontoutdoorschool.
2. How do I register my child?
Claremont Unified School District has centralized enrollment. The registration process is handled by our Student Services department, located at 170 W. San Jose Ave. in Claremont. Visit the Student Services web page for more information, including important dates and registration forms.
3. How do I report an absence?
Absences may be reported by calling the school office at 909-398-0313, or by sending a written note to school with your child when he or she returns.
4. How do I become a volunteer?
Volunteer forms are available in the front office. All parent volunteers must complete the volunteer form and submit current TB clearance before working with children. Parents interested in chaperoning an overnight field trip must also complete fingerprint LiveScan. More information on chaperoning overnight trips is provided specifically to parents of students in grades 4-6 during the school year.
5. Is before and/or after school child care available?
Yes! Claremont USD offers child care from 7:00 a.m. until school starts, and after school until 6:00 p.m. through our Best Learning After School Time (BLAST) program. Visit CUSD's Child Development page for enrollment information.
6. I have a question/concern/
complaint/compliment. Who do I contact?
We welcome your input. Any issues concerning the classroom or playground are best first addressed with your child's teacher. He or she may be reached before or after instructional time at 909-398-0313, or any time via email (see the Staff Directory link on this website for email addresses). School administration has an open door policy. You are welcome to call (909-398-0313) or stop by the office at any time. If the principal is available, she will speak with you immediately, or if not, she will get back to you as soon as possible. If you would prefer to make an appointment, contact the front office to schedule. You may also contact the principal via email by clicking on the email link in the Staff Directory on this website.
7. How can I get involved?
We encourage our families to get involved in our Oakmont community! Here are some suggestions:
1. Volunteer in the classroom. This may include working with small groups, reading with a student, or leading a classroom activity.
2. Prepare teaching materials, post a bulletin board, or construct special learning materials. This may be done at school or at home.
3. Come in and talk to a class about your career, or share a special skill or talent.
4. Chaperone a field trip.
5. Attend our monthly Parent Faculty Association (PFA) meetings!
