About This Course

This course is designed to provide the student with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform basic care services for patient care. It prepares students to function in the role of nursing assistant under the supervision of a RN or LVN. Course is designed to meet the curriculum requirements of the California Department of Public Health and it will prepare students to take the basic nursing assistant proficiency examination with both written and manual skills components. Course requires students to complete both classroom lecture and clinical setting with successful demonstration of 21 manual patient care skills. Completion of course provides eligibility to take the state certification exam.

Class times:

  • 8:00AM-2:30PM on Monday-Thursday with instructor in person.

  • Some Friday’s may be included.

    • Externship hours vary.

Total Program Fee:

  • $2950 per term.

    Most of our students qualify for complete financial assistance.

State License Requirement:

  • California Identification Card, Drivers License or Valid Passport.

  • Social Security Card.

  • Pass a clean background check.

Classroom Requirements

  • In addition to passing the pre-registration assessment, potential students must pass a Tuberculosis test, a physical, and a criminal background screening to be eligible for this class.

  • COVID Vaccination required or acceptable exemption documentation (clinical requirement).

  • Class requirements: 96 hours of theory in the classroom; 144 hours of clinical in long-term care facility.

  • All English Learner CTE students who score below the 9th grade level on the entrance exam are required to take a concurrent ABE/Vocational ESL class.

Financial Assistance Information

If you are applying for financial assistance, please bring these documents to your appointment.

  1. Bring a copy of your resume.

  2. Valid CA Drivers License or CA Identification Card (Please bring the physical card, NOT a copy).

  3. Social Security card, birth certificate or US Passport (Please bring the physical card, NOT a copy).

  4. Proof of Selective Services Registration – STATUS LETTER (Males only).

  5. Proof of residence (utility bill, official correspondence, phone bill, bank statement, etc.).

  6. EDD Award Letter or Claim Form – (if applicable).

  7. Veterans: Bring DD-214 Form (if applicable).

  8. Any layoff or termination letter (if applicable).

  9. 6 months proof of income for you and your spouse (if applicable).

    • Paystubs, Unemployment Insurance documentation, EBT, disability, etc.

      • If you had the same employer for the past 6 months, then the last paycheck stub will suffice

        • *If you have children, please bring their birth certificates or social security cards and tax documents that provide their information (name, social security, etc.)
